Rovers, in the current season, navigate the waters of League One with varying success. The team, while not reaching for the stars, does not linger near the relegation zone either. In terms of the FA Cup, Bristol has successfully navigated two rounds, first decimating Whitby with a score of 7:2 and subsequently overcoming Crew.

Norwich City

Norwich, in the current season, strives to contend for promotion to the Premier League. The team recently secured a victory following a series of disappointing matches, elevating them to 11th place in the Championship standings. Norwich has accumulated 38 points from 27 matches, trailing the playoff zone by a mere two points. However, the competition is formidable. It's worth noting that the team scores quite a bit but also concedes its fair share.

Interesting facts about the match and head-to-head history

Bristol Rovers has not suffered defeat in their last nine home matches.Norwich has conceded in five consecutive matches.Rovers have never defeated their upcoming opponent.

Match Prediction Bristol Rovers vs Norwich City

The first encounter between these teams concluded in a 1-1 draw. While the guests enter with a slight favoritism, Rovers are expected to engage them in a battle for advancement to the fourth round of the tournament. Considering the players' class, I anticipate Norwich's victory with a 0 handicap.

Norwich City visit the Memorial Stadium on Wednesday to face Bristol Rovers in a replay of their third-round clash in the 2023-24 FA Cup.

On Saturday, the sides played out a 1-1 draw in Norwich as Ashley Barnes' 12th-minute opener for the Canaries was canceled out by Grant Ward, just five minutes later.

Bristol had only 38% possession but created more chances and looked more threatening, and will be looking to get the job done at home this week. However, the Pirates are reeling from a 2-1 loss to Barnsley in League One at the weekend.

Corey O'Keefe scored the winner for the hosts just five minutes after Chris Martin equalized for Bristol, who are now winless in their last three games in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Norwich overcame Hull City 2-1 in the Championship on Saturday. Jonathan Rowe and Christian Fassnacht scored apiece in normal time to put them 2-0 up before Tyler Morton pulled a consolation strike back for the hosts in stoppage time.

Bristol Rovers vs Norwich City Prediction

Bristol have a good record against Norwich in the FA Cup, but have struggled in more recent clashes, while their form right now isn't the most promising either. The Canaries could see this one through.

Prediction: Bristol Rovers 1-2 Norwich City

Norwich produced a smash-and-grab in Friday's 2-1 Championship win at Hull City and they can gain some more away day joy when they head to Bristol Rovers for an FA Cup third-round replay on Wednesday.

The pair renew hostilities after playing out a 1-1 draw at Carrow Road, Ashley Barnes putting the Canaries ahead after 12 minutes, only for Grant Ward to grab an equaliser for the Gas soon after.

Wednesday's hosts at the Memorial Stadium have beaten Whitby and Crewe to reach this stage and will again look to go toe-to-toe with their rivals, with the prize a trip to Liverpool on January 28th.

However, Norwich's Championship class should shine through against their League One rivals and set up a reunion between David Wagner and his old friend Jurgen Klopp.

Team news

Rovers defender Lewis Gordon is expected to be fit enough to be named on the bench, but James Wilson, Jordan Rossiter and Ward all remain sidelined.

The Gas' forward line could be led by a familiar face to Norwich fans, with striker Chris Martin, who began his career at Carrow Road, expected to start.

Wagner has confirmed that Josh Sargent will not travel with the Norwich squad and will be rested.

Jaden Warner is unavailable due to illness and the City boss has confirmed that captain Grant Hanley is still a week away as he works his way back from a hamstring injury.

The stats

Rovers have a solid home record in League One this season, winning five, drawing five and only losing once.

They also beat Whitby 7-2 in the first round, before winning 4-2 away at Crewe to reach this stage.

The Gas have kept just one clean sheet at home in all competitions this season, with 'Yes' in both teams to score, landing in the other 13.

There have also been goals on both sides in 12 of Norwich's 17 away matches this season, most recently at Hull on Friday.

That result ended a run of four without a victory in all competitions, while Rovers have failed to win any of their three fixtures in 2024.

Peculiarly, both teams sit 11th in their respective tables, with Rovers on 34 points after 25 League One games and the Canaries on 38 after 27 Championship outings.

League One Bristol Rovers were more than a match for Championship outfit Norwich as they came away from Carrow Road with a well-deserved 1-1 draw.

The hosts took an early lead through Ashley Barnes but, roared on by 1,300 travelling fans, Rovers were quickly back on level terms thanks to a smart finish from Grant Ward.

The FA Cup third-round tie was an even game after that, with both sides having their chances, but that proved to be the end of scoring and Norwich were booed off at the end as the visitors claimed a replay at the Memorial Ground later this month.

Rovers made a positive start but found themselves behind after just 12 minutes as the hosts made their first genuine attack count.

A lapse from defender Tristan Crama allowed Onel Hernandez to get to the byline on the right and the City wide man crossed for Barnes to sidefoot into an unguarded net from close range.

Despite the setback, Rovers continued to take the game to their higher-ranked opponents and were deservedly back on terms within five minutes.

Keeper George Long did well to block an effort from Harvey Vale and young defender Kellen Fisher should have dealt with the loose ball but his weak clearance fell at the feet of Ward, who coolly picked out the top corner from around 12 yards.

The visitors might have got their noses in front three minutes before the break when Long was forced into an excellent reaction stop to deny Jevani Brown before Luke Thomas fired the rebound against an upright.

Both sides went close early in the second period, with Vale’s goalbound effort being blocked by Fisher before substitute Adam Idah just failed to get on the end of an inviting cross from Hernandez.

Norwich went close again when Idah fired inches wide after being picked out in the box by Liam Gibbs.

The hosts were looking the more likely winners as an entertaining tie entered its final quarter, with Barnes firing a presentable chance well over in the closing stages, but Rovers held out for a deserved replay.
