Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is just one day away from the upcoming UFC 297 pay-per-view (PPV) event on ESPN+, scheduled for this Sat. night (Jan. 20, 2024) at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. UFC 297 will be headlined by the middleweight title fight pitting reigning 185-pound champion Sean Strickland opposite No. 2-ranked title contender Dricus Du Plessis, a five-round showdown that follows the 135-pound co-headlining contest between women’s bantamweight title challengers Raquel Pennington and Mayra Bueno Silva.
The UFC 297 early (and official) weigh ins will stream LIVE from the promotion’s host hotel in the embedded video above beginning promptly at 9 a.m. ET. The festivities are expected to last roughly two hours but could end much earlier depending on how quickly all 26 fighters get to the scale. The promotion will also stage the UFC 297 ceremonial weigh ins complete with fighter staredowns RIGHT HERE live from Scotiabank Arena at 5 p.m. ET. Note: Ontario Athletic Commission (NSAC) affords a one-pound allowance in non-title fights, but championship contests must return the exact weights, no exceptions.
UFC 297 takes place today, and while there are some great fights lined up for the evening, the main card sees Sean Strickland defending his middleweight champion title for the first time. He’ll be fighting Dricus Du Plessis, with the fight starting at approximately 10 pm ET. We’ve tracked down everything you need to know to watch Strickland vs Du Plessis, as well as the preliminary fights, which start at 6 pm ET.
The only place to watch UFC 297 and the Strickland vs Du Plessis fight is on ESPN+. This is ESPN’s standalone streaming service, and it currently costs $11 per month. Additionally, UFC 297 is an ESPN Pay-Per-View event. This means you’ll need to spend an $80 to purchase it on top of your ESPN+ subscription. If you aren’t already an ESPN+ subscriber, you can bundle UFC 297 with an annual subscription for a 30% discount and total cost of $135. If you’re considering an ESPN+ subscription in order to watch UFC 297 and the Strickland vs Du Plessis fight, there’s a lot of great content on the platform that might entice you further. ESPN+ offers access to the complete 30 for 30 documentary library. There’s also a ton of live sports on ESPN+, with games from the NFL, NHL, La Liga soccer, NCAA basketball, NCAA football, and other college sports available regularly.
If you’re traveling outside of the United States but still want to find yourself in front of the fights this evening, rest assured, you can still watch UFC 297 and the Strickland vs Du Plessis fight.
